Larry Lavern Coldwater, age 73 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Larry is survived by his wife of 26 years, Julia Baum-Coldwater; his children Aaron (Stephanie) Coldwater and Anna Coldwater; grandchildren Caroline Coldwater, Tristan Joseph Coldwater, Anthony Jimenez and Arlo Jimenez.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern Aaron Coldwater (1999) and H. Kathleen Coldwater (2017), and his sister, Linda Coldwater Boseo (1982).

Larry graduated from Joliet East High School in 1969 and Joliet Junior College in 1971. He attended the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana following his time at JJC. Larry was a 6th generation farmer and owner of Coldwater Seed Farm of Elwood, which served the farming community for a total of 3 generations.

He was an avid reader and an “armchair scholar” of the Civil War and World War 2. He was also an avid collector of antiques. His deepest passions were farming, family and friends.

Private family services were held, however, a memorial service will take place in the near future. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery, Elwood, In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s name to Elwood Community Church, 101 S. Chicago St., Elwood, IL. 60421, would be most appreciated.
