City and Library Parking Lots Closed for Construction Beginning Thursday, Sept. 5
From the City of Joliet:
In association with ongoing construction activities for the Chicago Street and City Square project, the city and library parking lots between Van Buren and Clinton Streets will be closed for several weeks beginning Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Additional construction fencing will be installed to establish and protect pedestrian pathways around construction activities. Downtown patrons are encouraged to utilize the Ottawa Street parking deck.
The City of Joliet is providing free parking for the customers shopping or dining or visitors to the library who park in the city’s Ottawa Street Parking Deck. The Library Staff and retail businesses and restaurants located on Chicago Street between Jefferson Street and Cass Street will validate parking for visitors/customers parked in the City’s Ottawa Street Parking deck.
Visitors/patrons will be required to bring the ticket they received at the parking deck entrance gate to the library/business they are patronizing which will then stamp and validate the parking ticket.
Ongoing ComEd relocations will reduce Clinton Street from Ottawa Street to Scott Street to a single lane with flaggers. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible and should use caution if they must move through active construction zones.
We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone.
