Jack G. Robbins, age 65, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, June 25. Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; children, Joe (Hillary Addy) Robbins, and Lauren Robbins; siblings, Rosalie Thatcher and Margaret (Arnie) Johnson; stepmother, Doris Robbins; sisters-in-law, Lorretta Robbins, Janet Robbins, Diane (Shaun) Gorman, Karen (Patrick) Berry, and Anita (Sean) Becker; father- and mother-in-law, Dale and Carleen Schmidt; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Robbins; mother, Jane Robbins; siblings, David, Jerry, Ed, Maxine, Richard and Mary Jane Robbins; brother-in-law, John Thatcher,
Jack was born on March 9, 1959, in Joliet IL, the son of Gerald E. and Jane (Doyle) Robbins. He was raised in Wilton Township, graduated from Peotone High School in the class of 1977, and Illinois Central College, class of 1979. Jack married Linda Schmidt on September 10, 1983, in Peotone, IL. They made their home on the farm Jack grew up on in Florence Township.
Jack farmed with his father and brother Jerry, as well as worked at Agro and Ritchie Grain for over 38 years. Jack was a true “Jack of all Trades” and an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. He was a true friend to many and all that met him.
Funeral services for Jack were held at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home on Monday, July 1. Per Jack’s wishes, cremation will take place after the services. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kuzma’s Care Cottage, 635 S. Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481 would be appreciated.
