UPDATE: Body of Missing Homeless Man Found in Pumphouse

On July 2, 2024, at 6:47 p.m., Officers and the Joliet Fire Department responded to the U.S. Steel property at 941 Collins Street for a report of a found body that appeared deceased.

Upon arrival, Officers entered a pump house which had flooded with water and located a deceased adult male floating in approximately four to five feet of water. It appeared the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The Joliet Police Department has learned that the Will County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased male in this case as Warren Baker (44, Homeless).

Mr. Baker had been reported missing to the Joliet Police Department on May 13, 2024, by a family member. He was last seen by family in the 400 block of East Cass Street on April 28,
2024.

Joliet Police Detectives continue their investigation into this death and the manner of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
