Historic Recognition

The Joliet American Legion Band held a special recognition for WWII Veteran Ted Micci of Joliet during their annual Spring Concert at the Jacob Henry Mansion. During Ted’s time of service in the Air Force (1942-1945), his tour of duty included 25 flights over enemy lines in Germany. Having earned the rank of Technical Sergeant, Ted was awarded numerous accolades for his military achievements, including the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters.
At the conclusion of the recognition, a WWII artifact plaque was presented by the JALB French Horn musician Army Maj. Richard S. Ellenberger (Ret.) for whom both Ted and he are recipients of Bronze Stars received during their time in service for bravery and valor. Ted is celebrating his 103rd birthday this month.
