Farm Days Gone By

Loretta Sartore popped into the office recently to share this picture taken around 1948 of her sisters and her at the Union County Fair. At that time, they were the Davis Sisters, born of Opal and Daniel Davis. From left, they came to be Sereda Perosa, who just passed recently, LaDonna Spurlock, Viola McKinnes and Loretta, who still remembers that dress she wore. The family farmed 126 acres in Dongola in far Southern Illinois. Now, can anyone tell us why the town would have been renamed after Dongola, Sudan? Might be a free subscription in it for you!
