Rodger Koehn, 61, of Peotone
Rodger A. Koehn, age 61, of rural Peotone, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Rodger was born on Sept. 21, 1962, in Kankakee, IL, the son of LaVern H. and Elaine A. (Schroeder) Koehn. Rodger was a Beecher High School graduate, class of 1980, and then attended Joliet Junior College earning an Associate Degree in Agriculture Business.
He was a lifelong farmer and was past president of the Will County Farm Bureau and a member of the Illinois Holstein Association. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, where he previously served as a church elder.
Rodger was a Chicago White Sox, Bulls, Bears, and Blackhawks fan and enjoyed showing cows. He was a history buff and Peotone’s greatest tour guide. Rodger was a devoted grandpa who enjoyed treating his grandkids to milkshakes and M & Ms.
Rodger is survived by his wife, Rhonda (Boicken) Koehn, whom he married on June 9, 1990, at Zion Lutheran Church in Beecher. He is also survived by his children; Richard (Katie) Koehn of Peotone, Rachel (Aaron Maher) Koehn of Brimfield, IL, and Riley Koehn of Peotone; 2 grandchildren, Louie and Ivy Koehn; a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Shirley Koehn of Watseka; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Roger Heldt of Beecher; an aunt, Joan (the late Clifford) Oliver of Peotone; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern H. and Elaine A. Koehn; and his uncles and aunts, Marjorie and Ronald Hack, Harris and Kathleen Koehn, and Maynard and Roberta Koehn.
Visitation was held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 8, with funeral services being held at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone on Friday, Feb. 9.
Interment was held at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Church of Christ.
