Scholarships
For WSCSW Students
This spring, the Will-South Cook Soil and Water Conservation District will award (3) $1,000.00 scholarships, including the Allen May, Dich McHugh Memorial Scholarships and the special Memorial Scholarship for Virginia Sass.
The scholarships, which aim to further the cause of soil and water conservation, will be awarded to Will-South Cook County students who expect to major in agriculture or a natural resource field at any accredited college or accredited school of higher learning.
Applications are available on the SWCD website, www.will-scookswcd.org or may be picked up at the Will-South Cook Soil and Water Conservation District office, 1201 S. Gougar Road, New Lenox. Information and application can also be mailed out upon request by calling (815) 462-3106 ext. 3.
Deadline: to be considered, the completed application form must be submitted by Feb. 29, 2024.
Natural Resources Interests
This spring, Land Use Council 16, which includes the Will-South Cook Soil and Water Conservation District, will be awarding scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00. Applicants are expected to major in the Natural Resource field at any accredited college or accredited higher learning institution.
Students must be high school seniors or graduates (diplomas or GED certificates), must be enrolled or be planning to enroll in a full-time course study at an accredited four-year college or university (in a natural resource field), have a 3.0 grade point average or better (on a 4.0 scale), and permanently reside in Boone, Cook, DeKalb, Lake, McHenry, Will or Winnebago counties.

Illinois Sheriff’s Assn.
The Illinois Sheriff’s Association will be awarding over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2024-2025 academic year.
The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only. The student must be a permanent Illinois resident, and enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the state. Full-time online learning is acceptable.
Sheriff Mike Kelley will be awarding three scholarships in the amount of $500 each. There is no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin.

Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documents to the Sheriff’s Office by March 15, 2024. Drop off or mail your application to: Will County Sheriff, Public Safety Complex, 16911 W. Laraway Road, Joliet, IL 60433.
