Farm Days Gone By

Robert Whitler grew up on a farm in Girard, IL. When he moved to Joliet, he worked shift work at the Texaco Refinery in Lockport and kept farming on Brandon Road in Joliet. Every year, he husked the corn crop by hand. And his lucky kids got to ride along. the cutie wearing the babushka in this 1950's picture is none other than Mary Baskerville. As she got older, she got to drive the tractor while her Dad husked the corn.
