Roger Lee Bunte, 74, of Beecher
Roger Lee Bunte, 74, of Beecher, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Roger was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Chicago Heights to Milford and Lorna (Senholtz) Bunte. His parents preceded him in death.
Roger is survived by his wife Elizabeth Bunte and his two daughters and sons-in-law, Nicole Green (Casey), Peotone, and Ashley Wehrmann (David), Peotone,; and five grandchildren, Van Wehrmann, Nate Wehrmann, Ella Green, Cade Green, and Cole Green.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph Bunte, Lombard, Kenneth Bunte (Kathleen), Charlotte, NC. and two sisters, Carol Watland (Wayne), Orland Park, and Barbara Bunte (Celeste), Arbo MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger graduated from Peotone High School in 1968. After graduation, he began farming the family farm, which became his lifelong career, retiring in 2016. Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army (Reserves) from 1969 through 1975 and a member of the Peotone American Legion.
Roger enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling, sunsets and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending parades with his grandchildren and eating their candy. After retirement, he loved spending the winters at his home in The Villages, FL. He was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed meeting with friends and tipping a few at his favorite watering holes in Illinois and Florida.
Military honors and funeral services were held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 13, with the Pastor Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. The family appreciates memorial donations to the Peotone American Legion Post 392.
