Second Motorcyclist Seriously Injured on Larkin
On August 23, 2024, at 7:57 a.m., Officers responded to North Larkin Avenue and Taylor Street for a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving a motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation of this crash determined the following: A Nissan Sentra driven by a male (38, Joliet) was southbound on North Larkin Avenue in the left lane approaching Taylor Street. The Nissan changed lanes into the center left turn lane of North Larkin Avenue with the intention of turning left onto eastbound Taylor Street.
A Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle driven by a male (54, Oswego) was southbound on North
Larkin Avenue already in the center left turn lane. The Harley Davidson struck the driver side of the Nissan when the Nissan changed lanes into the turn lane. The collision ejected the motorcyclist from the bike.
The motorcyclist was transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
The roadway is currently closed as members of the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit reconstruct the scene. No citations have been issued as this crash remains under active investigation.
