Young Farmers Committee meets
The Young Farmers committee met at 7:30 pm on Thursday, July 18th and was led by RJ Nugent, Chairman with the following members present: RJ Nugent, Kandice Kestel, Kyle Johnston, Kevin Ardaugh, Austin Brown, Jarrad Mulderink, Joe Davis, Ashley Davis and Mark Schneidewind, Farm Bureau manager.
RJ covered the pedal pulls with a report on family fun night which was good but number of kids was down for the pull. However, all went well. The Threshermen’s show pedal pull is this Saturday and workers are Joe, Ashley, Jarrad, Kevin, Kyle, Lauren, Mark and Anita.
Chasing Cans for Cancer pedal pull is on August 31st and a work schedule was developed; The Symerton Home Coming is set for August 18th and a work schedule was developed. Christmas in the Village will be on December 14th and they will develop a work schedule later once we get more details. RJ said the Focus on Youth winners will appear soon in the paper, but awards have been provided to the 2 winners. They will work on their Christmas party in September once things are set for winter of 2025. They will cook for the PrimeTimers Picnic on August 7th, and they developed a work schedule for this day. The retirement party for Kevin and RJ has been changed to Saturday, September 7th at Ryan’s house and invites will be out in 3 weeks. Kevin and RJ will provide more names for the invites to be sent.
They then spent 20 minutes on the golf outing to be next Friday on July 26th and developed work schedule. They reviewed the check list and will set up at 8 am on the 26th and made assignments. Foursomes are looking at 28 and a half which is good and after the meeting they will put the goodie bags together. They will need to get the compressor for the cannon game and pick up the cannon from Corey. They could not secure an auctioneer so RJ will do it. They reviewed prize holes and donations to date, and they will have 24 Chinese raffles.
The group discussed the discussion meet set for August 1st and Kandice is still planning to attend; however, Kevin was not 100% sure. They will get items from Mike Bernhard. They reported on the Ag Olympics, and all went well with 5 clubs in the end. They are working on animals for the Will County Fair set for August 21-25. The legislative barn meetings are set July 29th Dave’s and August 5th Steve’s. ISBA is having a legislative update at the office August 29th at 7:30 am and the Manhattan Bank has a market and economic outlook set for September 4th at 6 pm at the American Legion in New Lenox. The ladies have a market program for ladies’ on the same day at 3:30-5 pm our office. Fall flower pick up is September 12th, the CPR program is set for October 26th.
The next meeting of this committee will be on November 20th at 7 pm at Austin Brown’s machine shed. The meeting was adjourned at 9 pm and they then spent 45 minutes doing the goodie bags for the golf tournament.
