Early Bird Gets the Worm Family Hike: 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Bolingbrook. Wake up early and learn about birds from a Forest Preserve naturalist. Bring your binoculars and your favorite field guide. Parents can also download the Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab to their smartphones. Free, all ages. Register by Nov. 12.
Morning Bird Hike: 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete Township. View birds as they get ready for winter. Birders of all experience levels are welcome. Bring binoculars and your favorite bird guide. Free, ages 16 or older. Register by Nov. 11.
Tur-rrific Turkeys: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. A naturalist will be stationed in the museum to share amazing facts about our feathered friends. A craft activity and a turkey-themed outdoor scavenger hunt also will be available. Drop in anytime between 1-3 p.m. Free, all ages.

Living History Encounter – 18th-Century Weaponry: noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. Hear history go boom as you learn about weaponry of the 18th century. Live demonstrations of various weapons will occur throughout the event. Depending on the weather, this program may take place indoors or outdoors. Drop in anytime between noon and 3 p.m. Free, all ages.
Riverview Farmstead by Lantern: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, Riverview Farmstead Preserve, Naperville. Discover three generations of the Clow family and their Riverview Farmstead by lantern. A Forest Preserve naturalist will share stories of life back in the 19th century while examining the site’s buildings and preserve grounds. Free, ages 12 or older. Register by Nov. 15.
